STORY

DOMINIQUE SONIA
MICHAUD

Born in the quiet, ink-stained margins of a notebook and tempered by a lifelong, rigorous interrogation of form and light, the practice of DOMINIQUE SONIA MICHAUD is a visceral reclamation of the human soul. As a multidisciplinary visual artist and poet, she inhabits the delicate friction between our ancient psychological origins and the synthetic pulse of a digital age. Her work does not seek to defy the era of the machine, but rather to illuminate what the machine cannot mirror: the profound, imperfect weight of a sentient life.

Her inquiry is a nomadic one... a physical and spiritual pilgrimage through the sacred geometries of Egypt, the Renaissance echoes of Italy and France, and the storied dust of Moldova, Portugal, Tunisia, and Morocco. From the gothic shadows of the Czech Republic and Germany to the imperial silences of Austria, she has gathered a fragmented map of the collective human condition.

These travels serve as an archaeological excavation, informing a visual language that is as geographically vast as it is psychologically deep.

Rooted in the architecture of the human face and the labyrinthine depths of Jungian psychology, her work functions as a site of transformation. In her seminal collection, TR-BLK, she navigated the "Shadow"...those unacknowledged territories of being where the psyche hides its most potent truths. Here, she proposes that the true ascent of the spirit begins only after a deliberate descent into our internal silences.

In her forthcoming masterwork, the Nouveau Tarot de Marseille, this journey moves toward the monumental. By reimagining the archetypal symbolism of the Ancien Tarot, she strips away the digital veneer to contemplate the human essence in its purest, most unobstructed state.

In an era of seamless replication, DOMINIQUE SONIA MICHAUD celebrates the "proof of life" found only in the hand of the maker.
